Nepal breathing

It’s been a manic first few weeks arriving in Nepal with Rachel and Pasha, measuring up kids and getting school uniforms made for Uri school, painting Ghalel school, sports days, teaching, wedding celebrations, elections and more. With Rachel and Pasha’s departure back to the UK the mania has calmed. Rachel has zero idea of how to get anything done that does not involve her combusting. Very tiring.

Now the days’ routine is a regular 45 minute walk downhill to school in Uri, teaching, taking tea at various village homes, climbing back up to Kot Danda, Little Paradise, home of Manoj, Man Prasad and Mina who take such good care of me.

Pleased to say I am getting quicker on the climb up as my lungs adjust. We are not super high here, i think about 3000ft, but you can still feel it.

Every day as I do the steep climb from Uri school, up past the teahouse just before i get to the makeshift sty that is the steepest part of the climb to Little Paradise, I get accosted by the balloon bandits, two little brothers, Sanjut and ?? I am held to ransom until i hand over the toll of two balloons.

Little Paradise is perched on the top of Kot Danda (hill in the foreground) towered over by Annapurna South (23,684 ft), Annapurna II (26,040 ft), Hiunchuli (21,146 ft) and Machapuchare (22,943 ft).

In the photo below, I am living on the top of the little dark hill in the foreground with Annapurna South and II snow capped peaks above. I get to wake up to some magnificent golden sunrises, often looking down on top of the clouds below in the valley.

It is quiet, off the beaten track except for the occasional trekkers. A working farm with a whole range of crops, two cows, chickens and a couple of dogs. More on this later.

The perfect place to just sit and breathe J
